Elon, NC -- Elon University students ditched their shoes Tuesday.
They're trying to raise awareness about millions of children around the world who don't have shoes.
"Kids are in third world countries right now, not wearing shoes. A lot of diseases come from the feet and being barefoot and this is kind of just in support and showing our support and spreading awareness for the cause," said Elon student Erin O'Callaghan.
The Elon students set up a booth and asked passersby to take off their shoes as well.
It's part of TOMS Shoes' "A Day Without Shoes." that promotes the company's mission. TOMS Shoes donates one free pair of shoes for every pair someone buys.
