Greensboro, NC -- Should you ever need to dial 911, the voice on the other end of the phone could save your life.
That person plays emergency responder and psychologist.
This week, one of those 911 operators has been voted as Guilford EMS Telecommunicator of the Year, Supervisor Angela Mitchell.
She helps the center answer and coordinate the 900,000 callers every year and as many as 1.300 a month.
Mitchell says of receiving the award, "It felt good that my peers thought of me enough to vote for me and I think i'm privileged for this award."
Employees presented Angela Mitchell with the award on Thursday afternoon at the Guilford Metro 911 Center in Greensboro where she has worked for nearly 15 years.
According to organizers, this award has been given out for nearly two decades.
