(Winston Salem, NC) -- Winston Salem police resonded to a robbery call last night at East Gate Village apartment complex.
According to victim Charles Samuels, he was getting out of his car while visiting friends when he heard a voice say "Give me everything out of your pockets". Samuels says that after he emptied his pockets two male suspects demanded his car keys. Samuels then tossed his keys away from them to prevent them from taking his car and when he did, one of the suspects shot him in the lower leg.
Samuels injuries are non-life threatening; however, he was admitted for surgery. An undetermined amount of currency and other personal belongings were taken during this incident.
