Burlington, NC-- Police in Burlington have charged a man that's already in jail for rape in another sexual assault that happened in 2010.

Friday, officers said they received DNA evidence results that link 35 year-old Xavier Sheriff Slade to a rape from October of 2010.

According to detectives, Slade is already in jail, charged with the rape of the elderly woman in her house. The crime was reported after officers were dispatched to a disturbance in May 2011. In that case, police met with the victim, a 61 year old female, who reported that she was the victim of a Burglary, Sexual Assault, and Larceny.

While investigating that crime, detectives said they noticed similarities from a sexual assault that happened on October 14, 2010. Officers submitted Blade's DNA to the NC State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) for comparison.

The NC SBI informed them last week they had a DNA match and the suspect came back as Blade.

Slade has been served warrants on the 2010 rape for:

  • 2nd Degree Rape
  • 2nd Degree Kidnapping
  • 2nd Degree Sexual Offense
  • 1st Degree Burlgary
  • Larceny after Breaking & Entering

Slade is still in the Alamance County Detention Center. His bond was increased another $500,000.
