He broke barriers in the sports world, and you probably have never heard his name.

LeRoy Walker died yesterday in Durham at 93 years-old. Walker was a legendary track coach at North Carolina Central University, where he coached 11 All-Americans, 40 national champions, and 12 Olympians.

Walker also served as the university's chancellor, and has coached track teams all over the world, but he'll go down in history as the first black person to head the US Olympic Committee.

In the 1996 Olympics he led a 10,000 member group of the most talented athletes in the world. Of all his accomplishments, Walker's proudest moment wasn't sports related.
