GREENSBORO, NC - Free Comic Book Day is Saturday and Comic Book City, USA and Acme Comics are ready to celebrate. And with two locations, Acme is prepared for more than 4,000 attendees.

"We expect this to be one of the largest Free Comic Book Day events in the world," said Jermaine Exum, Acme Comics manager. "We can't wait to share our passion for comics with all our friends and neighbors."

Acme will offer 40 different comic books on May 5 and have 20 professional comic book artists drawing free sketches. There will also be face painting, superheroes, contests and so much more to keep everyone entertained.

Last year more than 1,500 people turned out for Free Comic Book Day at Acme including the first recorded occurrence anywhere of fans camping out overnight to be first in line. Clark Sellars and his son, Austin, 10, will be among those camping out this year.

"There's really nothing like Free Comic Book Day and nobody does it like Acme Comics," Sellars said. "This is a chance to do something for my son, with my son. This is a chance for us to bond."

Sellars isn't alone. Excitement for Free Comic Book Day is spreading across Greensboro. The city council voted in April to officially recognize Free Comic Book Day and to take on the alter ego of "Comic Book City, USA" on the day each year.

This year Acme Comics has also partnered with the Natural Science Center of Greensboro to offer a second location for Free Comic Book Day. Families will get free comics and sketches while hanging out with tigers, lemurs, superheroes and dinosaur fossils!
