Winston- Salem, NC--  A man has police officers to thank for his second chance at life.  

The two Winston- Salem police officers saved the man, who was unconscious, inside a burning vehicle after he crashed on University Parkway near Ziglar Rd.

Sgt. S.E. Blemings and Officer K.M. Shouse found Michael Dangerfield's car off the road with smoke and flames coming from underneath around 6:30pm on Friday evening.

The two officers were able to get Dangerfield out of the car and carry him to safety, just seconds before the entire vehicle went up in flames.

Dangerfield only suffered minor injuries.

Winston- Salem police are investigating the collision but neither alcohol nor speed appear to be a factor in the accident.
