Winston-Salem, NC-- A man is in police custody thanks to his neighbors who saw him assault someone.
Police said those neighbor chased the man after he stabbed another man and then tried to run away. Police said the assault happened on Cedar Springs Drive just before 7:00pm. When they arrived, they found man who had been stabbed in the shoulder sitting in a truck.
The victim is identified as Cesar Reyes was transported to Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center for treatment.
Neighbors who witnessed the assault chased the suspect, Alfonso Santiago DeJesus and held him until police arrived.
Police said DeJesus was intoxicated and lapsed in and out of consciousness so they called EMS to check him out.
DeJesus was treated and released. Police have charged him with Assault with a Deadly Weapon With Inflicting Serious Injury, Communicating Threats and Resist/Delay Law Enforcement.
