Pilot Mountain, NC-- Rescue workers for Surry County said a teenager is being treated at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center after falling in Pilot Mountain.

John Shelton with Surry County EMS tells WFMY News 2 that the teenager is a 17 year-old male. Shelton said the call came in around 2:50pm near the Three Bears Trail.

Shelton said the boy was hiking with some friends when he tripped and fell about 50 feet down an embankment. None of the other hikers were injured.

It took rescue workers about 20 minutes to find the boy and pull him to safety. They then used an ATV to drive him to an ambulance.

Because of his age, Shelton said he was unable to release any additional information on the teenager.
