Thomasville Kmart Security Officer Peppered Sprayed During Robbery

Thomasville, NC-- Police in Thomasville are investigating an assault case on a security guard at a retail store that has lead to a bigger retail theft crime.

Saturday around 9:19pm, the Thomasville Police Department received a larceny and robbery call at K-Mart on Randolph St. The loss prevention Officer told police he spotted two females were inside K-Mart concealing merchandise. He said when he approached them, he was sprayed with pepper spray.

The two female suspects then ran from the store. The officer said the women got into a car that had three other women inside. Some eyewitnesses provided Officers a license plate number of the car. The car was spotted shortly after and the women were arrested.

The suspects are identified as: Naketa L. Gainey, Disequae L. Pittman, Eva L. Slaton, Canicia Y. Slaton, and Delonia J. Slaton, all of High Point. They are each were charged with Robbery with a Dangerous Weapon, Possession of Stolen Merchandise, and Organized Retail Theft. 

Investigators said they also recovered $1,200.00 in merchandise and returned the items to K-Mart.

Additional property was located in the suspects car and was seized until ownership can be determined. The property recovered included lawn tools and equipment, clothing, perfumes, hardware, toiletries and other household items.
