This is a story we knew we would have to bring you, but that doesn't make it any easier.

Seventeen year-old Ashley McKnight died Sunday night, her grandmother and mother called us a short while ago with the news.

Ashley was born with Cystic Fibrosis and had a double-lung transplant at the age of 14, in 2009.

Her body rejected it and she went into respiratory failure, so she had another double-lung transplant in January.

Ashley died at home Sunday night.

Both her mother and grandmother wanted those who have sent cards, gifts and emails throughout Ashley's fight to know how much she appreciated them.

Her viewing will be Thursday afternoon from 12:30 to 2:00 at Faith Of God Ministries Church at 5545 Walnut Cove Road in Walkertown. Ashley's funeral will be at the church after her viewing at 2 pm.
