(Raleigh, NC) -- North Carolina citizens are going to the polls to choose general election candidates for governor and other positions, but foremost on many minds is the proposed change to North Carolina's constitution on marriage.
The polls opened this morning in all 100 counties. Voters are being asked to amend the constitution to make traditional marriage the only domestic legal union recognized in the state. The change would prohibit gay marriage but also prevent civil unions.
A half-million people cast ballots early.
