Concrete Dust Creates Traffic Warning In Burlington

Burlington, NC-- Officials with the city of Burlington are warning drivers to avoid one area because of a powdery substance spill.

Tuesday, a substance that may be concrete dust was spilled along Huffman Mill Road. City workers are on the scene trying to clean up the spill.

Lanes that are closed: far right lane on Huffman Mill Rd and the far right lane on Church St. Burlington Police have officers at intersections helping with traffic.

Rachel Hawley with the City of Burlington said the clean up will last well into the night. The city has called for help from Shamrock Environmental. Hawley said they emergency workers are trying to prevent run-off from the substance.  

Anyone who suspects damage to their car from the spill should call the Burlington Police Department at 229-3540 to fill out a report.
