Winston-Salem, NC -- Jefferson Elementary School in Winston-Salem didn't open on Tuesday, after rain caused flooding and damaged a road near the school.
Principal Nora Baker said the main road leading to Jefferson Elementary was over run and the road behind the school was washed out.
Conditions were so bad, the janitor got trapped in the school overnight. A deputy had to get him out Tuesday morning. The school wasn't damaged and the janitor wasn't hurt.
Jefferson Elementary hopes to reopen on Wednesday.
To make things even more crazy, students were supposed to take End of Grade tests on Tuesday. Those will start Wednesday.
Meanwhile... workers at the nearby O'Reilly Auto Parts store spent the morning cleaning up after the rain flooded the business.
The assistant manager said the store stays open no matter what. His employees got most of the mess cleaned up.
