Greensboro, NC -- It was Memorial Day weekend for most of the Triad, but for about two dozen elementary school students it was a different story.
The students spent Saturday afternoon testing their skills at a community spelling bee in Greensboro.
Aysia Beamon, the 5th grade winner said, "The spelling bee helps me mature and gets me ready for what's coming up, my obstacles."
And Timiya Wilkerson, the 4th grade winner said, "I like to take my time because I like to read. I take my time and I spell each word 3 or 4 times before I go to the next word."
The students are part of the Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club's school program. Congratulations to them all.
