Lewisdale, MD-- Prince George's County Police say a mother who was driving an SUV that struck five children on Thursday night accidentally killed her eight-year-old daughter.

Eight-year-old as Natalie Hernandez Lopez passed away on Friday.

Her mother has been identified as 33-year-old Maria Anna Cruz-Lopez. Cruz-Lopez had no license and had been cited for not using a car seat.

Family friend Maximillion Mendez showed 9News Now how the mother backed the Ford Expedition into the driveway on Hannon Street and hit the children.

"I was in the house when I heard people screaming and looked out the window to see the kids on the ground."

Police say the Cruz-Lopez did not see the five children and hit the gas pedal instead of the brake. Family friends say Natalie Hernandez Cruz was also hit by falling bricks.

All of the children were taken to Children's Hospital. Friday morning, police said that the driver's son, the youngest in the collision, is in "stable" condition. A six-year-old boy and seven-year-old girl are also in "stable" condition. An 11-year-old child is in serious condition, said police.

The mother was reportedly an illegal tenant and upset about being evicted from the home before the accident. Police say the strange set of circumstances have no connection to what they call a devastating accident. Police continue to investigate the crash. Police say drugs and alcohol were not involved and no charges have been filed.
