Asheboro, NC -- In July of 2008, voters in Asheboro voted to legalize alcohol sales. Four years later, there's another milestone: The city's first brewery is in the works.

It's called Four Saints Brewing Company. Not only will it be Asheboro's first brewery, but the first brewery in Randolph County.

Andrew Deming calls it a hobby -- gone wild.

"Actually, I started in the kitchen on the stove top in our little apartment when we were first married. And it's just grown since then," said Deming.

Deming and his partner, Joel McClosky, have been brewing beer in Deming's garage for more than a year.

"Every time we got done brewing a beer, we'd kind of sit back and have those dream conversations of, 'how cool would it be if we started a brewery?'" said McClosky.

They're brewing everything from stouts to IPA's and Hefeweizens.

"That excitement and anticipation is always there. The nervousness of, 'is it going to turn out right?' It's definitely exciting every time you try a new beer," said Deming.

Deming and McClosky have already been going to beer festivals and hosting tastings to get their name and their beer out there, but they're picturing a tasting room and a restaurant at their brewery in downtown Asheboro.

"North Carolina is one of the most craft beer friendly places in the United States right now. And the eye of the brewing world is on North Carolina," said McClosky.

Deming and McClosky have launched a campaign with Kickstarter, which is a way to ask folks to pledge money to help them get started.

If they can raise $45,000 by the end of June, they could lease a spot and buy equipment and be ready to open in about a year.
