Randolph County, NC -- Durham Police and the Sheriff's Office in Randolph County think a missing man from Durham was murdered in the Triad.
Wednesday, Deputies executed a search warrant that lead to the discovery of the man's body parts at an Asheboro home. Detectives believe the man was killed at the house on Mt. Sheppard Road during a struggle.
Jessica Summey and Shaun Lundy were in Tazwell County, VA while authorities were investigating, and the two were taken into custody by the Tazwell County Sheriff's Office.
Capt. Derrick Hill tells WFMY News 2 that body parts were found at the house. Hill said they believe someone tried to bury the parts. He would not elaborate on whether or not the body had been dismembered.
Hill said the investigation is ongoing and he could not comment on that.
Investigators think the body parts are those of John Morris, the missing man from Durham but are waiting on positive ID and cause of death from the state medical examiner's office in Chapel Hill.
Who is who? Hill said Morris and Summey were romantically involved while Morris lived in Asheboro from 2004-2007. They believe Morris went to visit Summey at her home and was confronted by Lundy, her current boyfriend.
Burnt vehicle parts from Morris' Jeep Wrangler was also found at the house in Asheboro. Hill said that Morris' body was not burned. He said parts of the Jeep had been stripped and sold for scrap metal.
Summey and Lundy are being held in the Tazwell County Jail in Virginia under no bond awaiting extradition to Randolph County. Both Summey and Lundy waived extradition during their first appearances in court this morning.
