Winston-Salem, NC-- See it now because soon you may not recognize part of NC Highway 52 in Winston-Salem.

Starting Sunday night, the NC Department of Transportation is changing it..permanently. And to complete the work, which includes moving a bridge, traffic patterns will change.

The permanent change: NCDOT is shutting down the exit for Third, Fourth and Fifth Streets in both directions on the highway. NCDOT will also be removing the Greyhound Court Bridge, which was closed more than three years ago.

Closures: Sunday, June 10, from 8:00pm - 5:00am, the inside lanes of Highway 52 will close from Business 40 to Fifth Street. At 10pm, the outside lanes will close in the same area.

Detours:

Northbound Travelers: Drivers traveling north on Highway 52 should take Exit 109A (US 421/Business 40) East to Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Take Exit 6C to go north on MLK Jr Drive back to US 52 North.

Southbound Travelers: Drivers traveling south should take Exit 110A (Fifth St), turn left on Fifth St, and follow it to MLK Jr Drive. Turn right onto MLK Jr Drive and follow to US 421/Business 40. Take Exit 6C to Business 40 West and follow back to NC Highway 52 south.

When all is said and done NCDOT hopes closing the Third, Fourth and Fifth Streets exit and removing the bridge will enhance safety and reduce traffic congestion.
