GREENSBORO, NC -- One of the oldest current members of Congress is looking forward to going home after a short stay at a North Carolina hospital after back surgery.
A statement from U.S. Rep. Howard Coble's office said the 81-year-old congressman is expected to be released Saturday from Moses Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
Coble is recuperating from surgery that removed a small part of a ruptured disc and a tiny portion of his vertebrae so that nerves can pass through easily. The back condition was causing Coble severe hip, leg and lower back pain.
Coble expects to recuperate at home while the U.S. House is in recess next week.
