Fort Hood, TX-- Monday, Fort Hood officials released the name of a Soldier who was found unresponsive in his barracks on Friday, June 8.
Specialist Gregory Justin Pike, 24, whose home of record is listed as Pilot Mountain, N.C., entered active-duty service in May 2010 as a cavalry scout.
He was assigned to Troop A, 6th Squadron, 9th Cavalry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood since December 2010.
Pike deployed in support of Operation New Dawn from January 2011 to November 2011. Pike's awards and decorations include the Army Commendation Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Iraqi Campaign Medal with campaign star, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon and Driver and Mechanic Badge.
Circumstances surrounding Pike's death is under investigation.
