Raleigh, NC -- North Carolina Democrats are gathering for their state convention and seeking to get energized for the fall election at an annual dinner event anchored by Vice President Joe Biden's son.

Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden is scheduled to deliver Saturday night's keynote address at the Democrats' Jefferson-Jackson dinner at the Raleigh Convention Center.

The convention earlier in the day will feature the election of delegates to September's national convention in Charlotte and consideration of a platform and dozens of resolutions.

This marks the first statewide party meeting since activists last month refused to accept Chairman David Parker's resignation and Parker stayed on the job. Gov. Beverly Perdue, gubernatorial nominee Walter Dalton and others had called on Parker to step down when allegations of sexual harassment at party headquarters went public.
