Gibsonville, NC -- Have you ever been sitting comfortably at home and then all of a sudden the door bell rings, you open the door, and there is a salesman with products they want you to buy?

Gibsonville Police have been getting calls about salesmen pressuring seniors into buying home alarm systems.  Police say the salesmen are telling the seniors about a surge in burglaries in the area and that the alarm system is necessary.

So what should you do if you're in a situation like this?

"One of the most important things to remember is ask the person to see their permit. Most cities and towns around here have a permit. Burlington's permit is no good in Gibsonville. Gibsonville's permit is no good in Burlington," said Lt. A.J. Inman, Gibsonville Police Dept.

Lt. Inman says it's also important to remember that you should never feel pressured to buy something on the spot.

If you have questions about the products, you should check out the Better Business Bureau's web site.
