Police: Domestic Dispute Leads To Standoff

High Point, NC -- Police in High Point were on the scene of a standoff they say started with a domestic dispute.

The incident happened at 105 Charles Ave.

Police said when they arrived on a domestic dispute call, they could not get the suspect to respond or come outside. The department activated its SWAT team to help with the situation.

They later found Eliezier Montanez Nazario was holding his estranged wife hostage in her home.

Negotiators arrived on the scene and successfully ended the standoff.

Nazario was arrested at the scene and charged with Violation of Domestic Violence Protective Order with a Deadly Weapon, Possession of Stolen Firearm, Felony Breaking and Entering, Assault with a Deadly Weapon Inflicting Serious Injury, and First-Degree Kidnapping.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where she is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
