Charlotte, NC-- A nurse is recovering after hospital officials say she was stabbed after work during an apparent robbery.
According to hospital officials, a female nurse was leaving work at Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte around 1:45 a.m. Wednesday morning when she was stabbed by an unknown person in the employee parking lot.
The parking lot is directly across from the facility.
Investigators told WBTV, the suspect then left with the nurse's purse and tote bag. Hospital officials said they believe the person's intent was to rob the nurse.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police have a rough description of the suspect and are still searching for him, WBTV has learned.
Anyone who may have more information is urged to call 911.
For the safety of visitors and employees, Presbyterian Healthcare Public Safety officers offer escorts to parking lots and round on all parking lots.
However, in light of this incident, officials say they are evaluating other safety measures that may provide further protection.
