The memory of a fallen Triad soldier is still very much alive in the hearts of his friends and family.  Marine Lance Corporal Jacob Levy died in sniper fire in Afghanistan last December.

Jacob levy was from Randolph County and attended Easter High School, where he joined the J.R.O.T.C. In January, WFMY News 2 spoke to Levy's mother, Amanda Sheek, she said that the support she has received from the community meant so much to her during her time of grief.

"If I could hug each and every person, I would. I just want to say, 'Thank you.' Our hearts are bursting with the love and support. We ask that you keep our family in your thoughts and prayers," Sheek said.

Now, his loved ones are returning that love and support by creating the Jacob Levy Scholarship Fund at his former high school.  To honor the occasion, this Friday, country music star Darryl Worley will put on a concert at Eastern Randolph High School to raise money for the fund.

The concert will start at 7 pm, Friday June 29th.
