High Point, NC -- All week, we've been hearing about the wildfires raging out of control in Colorado. The fire has destroyed hundreds of acres and homes. Thousands of people have been evacuated, two people have died, and more than 1,100 firefighters are battling the flames. But a Triad little league team is stepping up to the plate to help.
The High Point Pony League baseball teams are holding a fundraiser tournament this weekend. Bryan Winther, one of the league's board members, used to live in Colorado, in the burn area, and wanted to help. He said, "It's hot here, but I can only imagine what the temperature's like out there. So anything that we can do here, little amount even if it's a box of food, a couple towels, anything that can help, I'm sure it'll help that effort out there."
Because of the heat, they've changed their game schedule. They'll still take place at the Johnson Street Sports Complex at 4515 Johnson Street in High Point. Games will be played at 9:00 am and 11:30 am. The championship game will be played at 7:00 pm.
