(Winston-Salem, NC)  --  Tonight the Public Safety Committee of Winston-Salem City Council will discuss whether to support Kalvin Michael Smith in his petition seeking a new trial currently pending before the Hon. Catherine C. Eagles in U.S. District Court in Greensboro. Most city council members are expected to attend.

This comes on the heels of the independent review of the Silk Plant Forest case recently issued by former FBI Asst. Director Christopher Swecker calling the original WSPD investigation "seriously flawed and woefully incomplete" and Mr. Swecker's calling for new trial for Kalvin Michael Smith.
