Henry Co, VA-- Investigators said five-year-old died on Friday after a wooden pole fell on her.
According to the Henry County Sheriff's Office, witnesses told them the girl was playing with other kids outside and when they tried to move a wooden pole it fell on the child.
The child who was hit in the head by the pole was taken to the hospital by a relative where she was pronounced dead.
Officers were notified of the accident around 7:44pm Friday evening.
None of the other children were injured in the incident.
Monday the sheriff's office said that preliminary autopsy results showed the girl died from blunt force trauma to the head. Medical examiners said the injury was consistent with the child being hit by a heavy object.
The investigation is ongoing.
