Randolph County, NC-- Fire officials are investigating a fatal house fire. Tuesday, Randolph County 911 received calls from neighbors at 3:55 am reporting flames coming from a house on Morton Avenue.
Firefighters said the house was fully involved when they arrived. A motor home and a van parked near the house were also destroyed by the fire.
Investigators said the body of 88 year-old Charlie Artie Powers was found inside the home. According to investigators, his body was located inside a front room near an exit door. Powers was apparently at home alone.
No other victims were located and no firefighters were injured in bringing the blaze under control.
The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. An investigation is continuing by Detectives with the Randolph County Sheriff's Office and Fire Marshall's Office.
