Greensboro, NC -- Employees at Guilford County Schools (GCS)will have their first raise in more than three years.
Each employee, with the exception of Superintendent Mo Green, will receive a 1.2 percent salary increase for the 2012-13 school year.
GCS approved the raise at its meeting on Tuesday night, after the approval of the state budget earlier this month. The board approved $1.25 million to be used for the pay increase.
The increase will take effect July 1, 2012.
The board also approved $1.14 million to fill teaching positions at 23 schools where there was a .25 student class size increase.
According to GCS, the board will have a chance to review and approve the final budget at its next meeting on July 26.
