Sacramento, CA--  Greensboro United U15 Navy Girls tied a team from Virginia 2-2 on Saturday, earning them a spot in the US Youth Soccer President's Cup National Championship.

News 2 has been following the team's journey since they clinched their spot in the national tournament back in June. The tournament is held in Sacramento, California.

The travel and lodging expenses required the team to fundraise throughout their community. Thanks to the donated funds and support, the team has been in California since Wednesday.

The Greensboro United Soccer Association U15 Navy Girls beat a Colorado team on Thursday. They tied the Dallas Texans on Friday, followed by the tie against Virginia on Saturday.

On Sunday, they play the Texans for the championship. It will be the third time in five weeks that GUSA and the Texans will meet. GUSA defeated Dallas 1-0 in the regional title game, and the two teams tied Friday. The Texans were given a wildcard spot in the national tournament when South Dakota was unable to attend.

Tonight, News 2's Liz Crawford will talk to Coach Julie Isley and the team via video chat about their journey so far and how they're preparing for the national championship tomorrow.
