Greensboro, NC -- Here's WFMY News2 Evening Anchor Frank Mickens' commentary on the shootings in Aurora, CO:

"It's times like this we tend to look at the state of things - our God, our country, ourselves.

What we're feeling is deep.

It is painful.

It is empathetic.

And that's what makes us human.

As we search for solid ground and the truth about who we are and where we are, let's find strength from the story of the man who shielded his girlfriend from the shooter.

Let's focus on the images of kids signing cards of comfort.

And as I heard it said today on our sister station in Denver, it's in times like this - our darkest hours - where we see our finest exhibitions of love, courage and sacrifice.

And the truth is those same qualities that make us human, are there everyday.

All we need to do is pay attention."
