Lumberton, NC-- Tuesday morning a funeral was held for a Lumberton, NC police officer who was shot and killed when he tried to serve a warrant on a man.
The service for Master Police Officer Jeremiah Montgomery Goodson Jr. was held at Lumberton High School with over 3200 friends and family in attendance, according to WBTW.
He was buried at Gardens of Faith Cemetery
Goodson was off-duty when he shot and killed last Tuesday while trying to serve a warrant on 27-year-old Marques Brown of Whiteville in a business parking lot.
Investigators have charged Brown with First-Degree Murder.
Goodson is survived by his wife Lametria, who is due to have the couple's second child. Goodson had been employed with the Lumberton Police Department since June 2006
A memorial fund has been established for his family at State Employees Credit Union.
