Triad --  It is August.  We expect the heat and the humidity.  That doesn't necessarily mean we like it.  If you're ready for a break, you'll get one tomorrow.

A cold front is slowly heading southeast and will pull through the Piedmont tonight.  In the meantime, we continue to have a chance of showers and thunderstorms.  Training storms could be a problem in some spots.  Cells could continue to move across the same areas, producing some flooding issues.  Never walk or drive through flooded areas.

Sunday will be a new day.  Assuming the front makes it all the way through, our rain chances will go down.  The best part is that a brand new air mass will move into place.  Temperatures will be in the upper 80s, so don't expect a huge cool-down.  The big difference will be the humidity.  Dew points have been in the upper 60s to low 70s.  That makes it feel almost tropical.  After the front moves through, dew points will be in the upper 50s to low 60s.  That is much more bearable.

Even though temps won't be that much different, when the humidity is lower, it feels more pleasant.  It's also easier to cool off because your body's cooling mechanisms work more efficiently.
