GREENSBORO - Tuesday night, U.S. ambassador Christopher Stevens was killed with three others when a group of protesters attacked the U.S. embassy in Libya.

News 2 learned on Wednesday that the protestors were angry over a film that ridiculed the Muslim prophet Muhammed.

Dr. Jerry Pubantz from University of North Carolina-Greensboro joined Tanya Rivera to discuss the protesters' motive.

"The attacks were deplorable and inexcusable," Dr. Pubantz said. "They were no more rational than riots in American cities or random killings of innocent people in this country. The issue is not rationality, but culture, religious fervor and wild accusations."

Dr. Pubantz added that in Islamic world of the Middle East, the image, biography and personal importace of Muhammed can not be overstated.
