Guilford County, NC -- The Guilford County Sheriff's Department, High Point Police Department, and Greensboro Police Department got a grant for $765,780 for the formation of a new DWI task force.

The grant came from the Governor's Highway Safety Program and will be used to fund five new positions (three in the Sheriff's Department and two in the High Point Police Department), new patrol vehicles, and new equipment. Greensboro Police will not receive grant funds, and will assign two officers to the Task Force on a full time basis.

The term of the grant is through September 30, 2013. The departments may apply for the grant again to continue the program, but funds must then be matched.
