(Bedford, PA) -- Prosecutors in west-central Pennsylvania have rested their case on the first day of the trial of a traveling preacher accused of having raped an 11-year-old girl at a hotel several years ago.
Authorities in Bedford County allege that the Rev. Walter Bradshaw of Lexington, N.C., assaulted the girl in a Bedford hotel in 2009 while he was in the area for revival meetings.
The 15-year-old girl testified Wednesday that 63-year-old Bradshaw assaulted her and continued contacting her after he was told to stop.
Bradshaw's attorney challenged her testimony and unsuccessfully sought a mistrial.
The girl's mother pleaded no contest in April to endangerment and soliciting perjury. Investigators said she knew Bradshaw intended to have sex with her daughter and then encouraged her to lie to police.
