MINNEAPOLIS - Minneapolis police say a toddler is dead after apparently being shot by another youngster in the city's Riverside neighborhood.
Police spokesman Sergeant Steve McCarty tells KARE 11 that the victim is just 2 years old.
Squads responded to reports of a shooting at 1907 7th street South around 12:45 p.m. When they arrived they found the toddler with a critical gunshot wound. He was loaded into an ambulance but died on the scene.
McCarty says the child was apparently shot by another boy under the age of 5 who was playing with a gun. At this point it is unclear where the gun came from, how the child got his hands on it, and whether any adults were home at the time.
