Asheville, NC -- Asheville may be home to competing electronic music festivals next year.
The Asheville Citizen-Times reports Tuesday that the company that promoted Moogfest for the past three years is leaving the event and starting another concert festival.
Promoter Ashley Capps says Moog Music of Asheville opted not to renew its contract with A.C. Entertainment, based in Knoxville, Tenn. He says the company will debut the Mountain Oasis Electronic Music Summit next year on dates to be announced.
Meanwhile, Moog Music spokeswoman Emmy Parker says Moogfest will continue and remain in Asheville. Moogfest honors the late electronic pioneer Robert Moog, developer of the keyboard music synthesizer.
The festival began in 2008 in New York. It's presented such major electronic music acts as Brian Eno, Moby, Orbital, Massive Attack and Thievery Corporation.
