Winston-Salem -- Some property owners in Winston-Salem have an opportunity to learn more about their property that may be purchased by the government for a major highway.
Thursday night's informational meeting conducted by the NC Eminent Domain Law Firm is a chance for those who attend to to get answers on fair compensation for their homes.
The project is the proposed Northern Beltway that could cost as much as $1 billion to construct.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is planning to acquire land by using eminent domain laws.
For more than 10 years, the multi-lane beltway -- planned to loop around northern Winston-Salem, beginning at U.S. 158 and ending at U.S. 311 -- has been a hot spot and the subject of much controversy.
If this beltway involves your property, this is probably a meeting you should not miss.
The meeting will be held at the The Winston-Salem Marriott at 7pm on December 13, 2012.
