ALBANY, Ga. -- Police in Albany say a woman is charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, Texting While Driving and Driving Without a License in an accident that sent a 44-year-old police officer to the hospital.
Officer Garnet Lincey was hit by a Nissan Pathfinder being driven by 22-year-old Lauren Owens around 2:30 a.m. Tuesday. Officials say Owens ran into a parked car after she hit the police cruiser.
Police say Owens was checking her phone for a text message at the time of the accident, and Lincey has been released from the hospital.
