Greensboro, NC -- WFMY News 2 Winterfest will host a charity weekend on January 18-20 to benefit three local non-profits and to give back to people in need within our community.
From January 18-20, WFMY News 2 Winterfest will donate $2 from every ticket sold to the Salvation Army, Greensboro Urban Ministries and Triad Goodwill. Special activities will take place on Saturday, January 19, from noon to 4pm and the three organizations will evenly divide the funds.
The Salvation Army's "Give the Gift of Warmth" campaign will be the beneficiary of efforts by Berico Fuels, BB&T and WFMY News 2. Representatives from Berico will be on hand to collect additional monetary contributions.
Greensboro Urban Ministries is partnering with Chick-fil-A to host a canned food drive. In honor of National Soup Day on January 19, 2013, Chick-fil-A will also serve free soup, give away prizes and host the Chick-fil-A cows and other entertainment.
Triad Goodwill is an active supporter of the WFMY News 2 Piedmont Winterfest. Additional funds raised during the charity weekend will allow the agency to enhance efforts to provide career development services and work opportunities for people with employment needs.
"We are excited to help support the efforts of these three charitable organizations," said Elijah Lovejoy, President of Renovo Design. "The WFMY News 2 Piedmont Winterfest is a great holiday tradition in Downtown Greensboro and this event provides an opportunity for area residents to enjoy the ice rink and support social service organizations that are making the community better," he said.
