Winston-Salem, NC-- Friday evening just wasn't what it normally is in Downtown Winston-Salem after a day of freezing rain and sleet.
"Friday evenings we usually run 6 servers and tonight we are just running with 1. And kind of a skeleton kitchen crew, just because our regulars just called us and canceled," said Karen Dioli, Owner, Dioli's Trattoria.
Dioli's restaurant was one of the few open on Fourth Street.
A lot of places closed early or didn't open at all.
Dioli said she had a slow night but stayed open for customers who are looking for a warm meal.
"We'll stay open you know as long as we can just to be accommodating to the people who are out," said Dioli.
"It's a little quiet and just being downtown we got a parking spot right outside easily and it's pretty slow for sure.. not as hopping as usual," said Caroline King, a customer at Dioli's.
Restaurants weren't the only places that opted to close early. One gym that is typically open 24/7 locked up.
With temperatures in the twenties Friday night, there just wasn't too many reasons to go out.
That's why Winston-Salem says they've only responded to one roadway traffic accident since 7 p.m. Friday night.
