WFMY News 2 -- It's estimated pet owners will spend an average of $22.00 on a pet this Valentine's Day. If that is just one holiday, imagine how all the expenses of having a pet can add up in a year: vet bills, food, grooming.

A family bought the puppy you see in the video above for $2,500 from an online breeder. When the dog was shipped to them, he was sick. The veterinarian said if he had been vaccinated, he would not have been sick like that.

The family didn't receive any answers from the online breeder.

Tonight on WFMY News 2 at 11:00, see why the law protects the breeder.
