Undated -- A woman is taking the lead on the track. Danica Patrick is making history as the first woman to win the pole position at the Daytona 500.
Earlier this week, Patrick said she doesn't aim to be the best female driver, but the best driver -- period. WFMY News 2 talked to some women who speed for a living who may one day follow Danica Patrick's lead.
Gloria Mitchell goes by the name Wonderwoman. She's been racing for 18 years. She said she loves the adrenaline rush. When asked what she thought about Patrick's success, she said, "she has what it takes, and you know its just to go and apply yourself and when it your time to shine, you will shine."
Mitchell says she foresees alot more women will start racing in the future.
The Daytona 500 revs up Sunday, February 24.
