Winston-Salem, NC -- Two teams from North Carolina are out, three more play tomorrow. But the Triad has ties to more than a dozen other teams in the NCAA Tournament.
WFMY News 2's Lauren Melvin found the road to the Final Four could go through Winston-Salem.
When you hear games broadcast on the radio, you assume the voices you hear are all at the game.
But some of them are actually sitting in cubicles at IMG College in Winston-Salem, hosting games on the other side of the country.
The folks at IMG broadcast for 14 teams in the NCAA Tournament and another eight teams in the NIT.
Chris Kroeger is actually the studio host for the Oregon Ducks.
For each of their games, Kroeger directs the radio broadcast that airs in Oregon and online from a switchboard at the IMG College offices on Trade Street.
Kroeger also hosts the show and gives scoreboard updates during the pre-game, halftime, and post-game.
And he'll tell you -- it's a lot or work to prove to listeners he's not just some random guy in North Carolina talking about their team.
"People will tell that you don't know what you're talking about if you don't know what you're talking about, so you really have to be educated to try to know about the tradition, know about the history, and that involves doing your homework and studying up," said Kroeger.
Kroeger said the Ducks sent him some Oregon SWAG to help him get into the team spirit during his broadcasts.
