Greensboro, NC -- A vehicle accident caused traffic congestion in Guilford County on Monday morning.
The accident happened on I-85 South near the Groometown Road exit.
Highway Patrol said at least one vehicle was involved in the accident just before 6:00 a.m. No injuries were reported.
Originally, four of the five lanes were closed. At 7:30 a.m., Greensboro fire department officials removed cones and opened all lanes to traffic.
Shortly before re-opening all lanes, a tow truck removed a badly- damaged silver SUV from the scene. The SUV's trunk appeared to have been been ripped off in the accident.
Crews on the scene swept debris off the roadway prior to opening up all lanes. When crews left, the damaged median was indicative of the accident that had happened there. It appeared as though the car hit the guardrail on the southbound side of the highway and pushed up the guardrail on the northbound side of the highway.
