Greensboro, NC -- More than 400 people died in alcohol-related deaths last year in North Carolina.
This year, Guilford County's DWI Task Force has already cited more than 600 drivers for drinking and driving.
One Piedmont officer has a personal mission to crack down on drunk drivers as a new "Booze It & Lose It" campaign begins. Officer Steve Brown, with the Task Force, lost both of his parents to a drunk driver in 2001.
Now, he's using the tragedy to motivate him to make you and your family safer on the road.
The statewide program started Friday and continues until Sept. 2.
Since the first year of the program in 1994, law enforcement officers have set up almost 265,000 checkpoints and arrested more than 144,000 impaired drivers.
