Greensboro, NC -- Police have charged 18 security guards at nightclubs after a scheduled sweep.
Captain Janice Rogers says police targeted six clubs over the weekend and charged 18 individuals. Charges ranged from not having proper paperwork to not having a license to carry a gun. Some guards were charged with drug possession and others arrested for outstanding warrants.
The sweep occurred after three major crimes, including a homicide at Lost Dimensions, happened at clubs since Easter.
Four of the 18 bouncers worked at Lost Dimensions. Assistant Greensboro Police Chief Dwight Crotts said the checks weren't in response to the crimes and already had been planned.
State law requires that anyone working as a security guard or bouncer be licensed or be employees of the club where they are working.
